deKay's Gaming Diary
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Racked up another couple of achievements today, since I finally got the full air stats. I also found a few more goals to get, improved on a couple, and found loads of gaps in the school and funpark areas. None of this, however, knocked my rank any higher than the 6 it was already at. Bah. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Viva Pinata (360)
Nooo! Professor Pester came into my garden and killed my blinged up Cinnamonkey! He was worth fahsands as well, and I was about to get him to mate. Rubbish.
Then a Ruffian can into my garden and filled in so much of my pond with vomit mud that I couldn't romance my Swananas or my Dragumflies. Also rubbish!
Then I bought a Rashberry, and it instantly vanished! Even more rubbish!
But at least I got my Swananas to breed, finally, and got a baby Swanana for the hassle. I also got three more achievements today too, for two more helpers and one for another Tower of Sour block I bought. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Only managed to improve on a few goals today, and finished one new one, before spending absolutely ages manuallying down the hill outside the Funpark, and then getting air in the bowl to the left of the inside of the Funpark. This bumped my Manual stats up to full, finally, but I still have a good 20 minutes or more of airtime to grab for maximum stats. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
Another dull day in Cheese today. Nothing was going on at all, and even Redd's visit providing me with a Frog Woman Pole (or something equally ridiculous), there's not really much to write about.
Except Boone is ill, the stupid monkey. Labels: animal crossing, ds
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
To start with today, I went round improving on a few goals and completing some I hadn't yet attempted. In the process of doing this, I managed to get ranked up to 6. By the look of things, it seems that I need to have most, if not all, of my goals up to Pro standard for Rank 4, and Sick standard (not going to happen!) for Rank 1.
After that, I boosted my stats some more. Getting up a level for grinding was easy, as was air, but now I have just one air level and one manual level left, and they're going to take ages. I've so far, in all my time playing, manualled 71,000ft. To gain the final level, I'm going to have to reach 140,000. Similarly, I have to spend another 40 minutes in the air. Tch. Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360): COMPLETED!
I'm in Project 8! OK, so I'm only 7th in Project 8, but I'm still there. I completed the challenges Tony set me (which were actually pretty easy), and made it to Rank 8 (and saw the credits and stuff), then did some more goals (including two Pro Challenges) which bumped me up to 7th.
After that, I switched to Free Skate mode and did a few timed runs. Having found an ideal spot in the Funpark (up and to the left as you enter, there's a large bowl), I then proceeded to get the two achievements for a 500,000 point combo (I actually got 800,000+), and a 1 million point score (actually, 1,800,000). Labels: 360, completed, tony hawk
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Rank 9! For some reason, I went straight from rank 26-ish to 9 just for completing a Pro Challenge. Very odd. I've also unlocked the Fun Park and done a load of the goals in there.
Now I think I need to find Tony somewhere... Labels: 360, tony hawk
Viva Pinata (360)
Managed to get myself not one, but two Swananas today. They're ace, but sadly, they kept fighting with my Quackberry. That was solved by selling it so they couldn't. Once you've made a pinata resident, you can "buy" another one anyway, so it's no real loss (and I want it in my other garden so I can feed it to my Pretztail anyway).
My bullrushes all matured, and I sold them for 1120 coins each. I then sold a load of pinatas (like Candarys I'd transformed my Sparrowmints into, and some Squazzils and stuff), and some water lilies, taking my money total to over 100,000 coins, netting me an achievement.
Another achievement came when I made two Cinnamonkeys resident, and blinged one up so it was worth more than 5,000 coins. I got them loved up too, but haven't bred them yet. I have, however, bred my Dragumflies (once). I have another new pinana resident now too - a Sweetooth! Labels: 360, viva pinata
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Racked up a few more rank upgrades today, finishing another Pro challenge, another Classic goal set (on Pro, anyway), and also improving some more existing goals. Now I'm up to rank 54!
I then had a go online, hosting a load of Graffiti games. I won the first couple, one of which gave me the "Beat a Developer" achievement. That was easier than I expected it was going to be! I didn't will all of my games (of which there were about 8 or so), but won more than half. I was disturbed to find that it kept saying "Warning! The host has used a cheat code!", when I was the host and I certainly did nothing of the sort... Labels: 360, tony hawk
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
K.K. Slider night again. This evening, he played me K.K. Gumbo. After listening to that, I went off weeding, and then chatting with my animals.
Boone appears to have vanished already. He didn't send me a letter, but his house has gone, and isn't even on the map. Bizarre. None of my other animals had much to say, although a few were asleep. Labels: animal crossing, ds
Viva Pinata (360)
Since I now want to start attracting some water-based species of pinata, such as Quackberries and Swananas, I decided to start a new garden. It turns out that you carry your game level, tools, money and access to items and pinatas over to any other gardens you create, so it isn't like starting from scratch entirely.
After beating the hard soil down in my new garden (which took ages), I dug a huge pond, which takes up about 40-50% of the total garden area. I planted loads of seeds (all from Seedos), and used fertiliser on them all. Very soon I had a few trees, loads of huge poppies and water lillies, and all sorts of other huge plants (including a giant pumpkin and a big chilli).
A few Whirlms moved in, followed by some Sparrowmints, so I bred the Sparrowmints to get myself the Master Romancer award for them. In the meantime, I planted loads of bullrushes to coax the few Dragumflies I'd seen in. I then found you could turn Tafflies into Reddhots, which was handy since the Dragumflies needed to eat them to become resident!
I spotted a few Swananas, but they didn't want to move in. I did, however, manage to get one Quackberry, which will help me in my other garden as I need them to breed Pretztails. Had lots of sightings of other new pinatas too, such as the Fizzlybear and the Sour Cocodile.
I've also reached level 32, and have unlocked the game's credits, and got the last part of the journal story. Does this mean the game is "completed"? I don't really think so, as I still feel I've barely started on it! I have racked up about 12 hours on it though, so far. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Viva Pinata (360)
Became a Master Romancer for the Bunnycombs today, which meant I didn't really need them any more, so sold them. I then made a start breeding Lickatoads and Newtgats, becoming a Master Romancer in the latter. I also tamed a Macaracoon, but buying a Cluckles (which the Sour Macaracoon ate), and by being a Master Romancer for five (well, six really) species.
Managed to find a few more variants too, making pink Buzzlegums, a pink Pretztail, a green Pretztail, and a red Whirlm.
I've been making a lot of "produce" as well. My two Buzzlegums are constantly making honey, and my Goobaa is a walking wool factory. I'm on Level 26 or 27 now. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Went back and did some goals and things I'd found early on in the game today. With my improved stats, I managed to sail through some of them, improve some Ams to Pros and Pros to Sicks, and got my rank up to 69 (dudes!).
I then had a go at playing online, but my 360 crashed when I tried to connect. Bah. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS): COMPLETED!
Surprise last minute witness! I won't say who, but it is most bizarre.
The last hour of play twisted the plot all over the place. One minute I was defending my client, the next accusing him, then back again. Then Edgeworth was on the same side as me, we swapped sides, swapped back, and then von Karma joined in! Confused? You will be!
And then I had a choice of two routes to take - declare my client guilty or not-guilty. I suspect one gives the "good" ending, and the other the "bad" one. I chose correctly for the best, and then I won! Hurrah! Labels: completed, ds, phoenix wright
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
More goals and stuff today, including some Classic goals, and also opening up the Factory area. I've bumped my rank up to 98 now too, but sadly, no achievement for 100. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
And now there's some more investigationing. I've been everywhere again, found some interesting evidence which makes my client look somewhat guilty, been to where Maya is (but didn't see her!) and have broken some psyche-locks on Engard. Yeah, that means my client had a secret. A nasty one at that.
I won't spoil it for my readers by mentioning it, though. That would be evil...
I now have to break Adrian's psyche-lock too, and I assume I have all the evidence needed since the game has forced me back to where she is ready to have a crack at it! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
Still nothing much going down in Cheese town. As it were. Word. I have a new resident called Boone (he's a baboon), who looks rubbish so I don't like him. Kabuki has sent me a letter to say it's his birthday on November the 29th. I don't care. I'm not buying him anything.
Aside from talking to my animals, I did a load of weeding too. Weeds are rubbish. Labels: animal crossing, ds
Viva Pinata (360)
Went on a bit of a selling spree today, as my garden was full again. Sold all my Squazzils (I had some left, it seems), most of my remaining Flutterscotches (except a yellow one which it doesn't give me the option of selling), and then set about getting a Master Romancer award for Whirlms and Bunnycombs. After that I sold most of them too, and started breeding Newtgats. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Forced myself into actually doing some missions, challenges, spot tricks, goals and other things in order to actually progress through the game. It's amazing how much time you can spend just doing tricks for no reason.
I've managed to rank up to 113 now. I'm hoping you get an achievement for getting to 100, as I haven't scored many gamerpoints yet. Opened up The School and The Slums areas of the map too. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Small Arms (Demo) (360)
Hmm. I don't think I'll be "buying" the full version of this. It's just Super Smash Brothers only with guns, and without the fun, characters, or charm.
I played a couple of games, didn't really see the appeal, and turned it off. Labels: 360, xbla
Defender (360)
Only a brief couple of goes on this while I waited for Small Arms to download. Only managed to get as far as wave 2, and scraped together a rather feeble 8,500-ish points. I'm so crap at this game. Labels: 360, xbla
Viva Pinata (360)
MATING FRENZY!
Well, sort of. I mated a load of Squazzils and some Lickatoads, and then made a start on selling my Jameleons, Squazzils and Candaries. I need the space for the Lickatoad population explosion I'm expecting to create. Also decided to try and coax some more Bunnycombs and Whirlms back in, as I haven't got the Master Romancer award for either of those, even though I've bred them a billion times each.
Tamed my first Crowla today too! That means I can finally scare off Ruffians, I think. I hope, anyway, as they're a bit bloody annoying. I'd planted loads of water lillies and other pond plants, and one came in and killed them all. I was trying to tempt Quackberries in. Tch. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Right. I forced myself to actually get stuck in properly, and not spend hour after hour just doing random tricks to bump up my stats.
So I've impressed a few pros (Daewon Song's "missions" being the best), and have done loads of the graffiti challenges, and some other things too. Sadly, I'm not up to Sick status yet, and have managed to get Sick on just one challenge. Bah.
No doubt this will be resolved as by stats improve. I hope. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
Finally, I've finished off the first day's trial. It seemed to go on and on forever, and just when I was about to get the Not Guilty verdict, it all went horribly wrong and I didn't. The trial is going to be extended by another day (which is bad for Maya - for reasons I won't spoil), and Edgeworth is at his most strange at the moment.
It's all still good though! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Doomed. I'm doomed. Completely.
If having Viva Pinata wasn't addiction enough, having not one but two new Tony Hawk games (and a third is out on the Wii in less than three weeks) is just going to cause me to apply for treatment in a clinic somewhere.
So I put this on. Two hours later, I was still completely ignoring most of the goals and missions, and was instead just messing around, and doing that Tony Hawk favourite: "Take Your Skater Where Your Skater Shouldn't Go". It's really very, very good.
I've done the (optional this time) tutorial, opened up the skate park, then the city. I've ranked up to about #170 (from 200), and have boosted my stats up somewhat. Really, really enjoying this. Labels: 360, tony hawk
Viva Pinata (360)
Gnngh! Super Addiction Fighter II Turbo!
Right, Bunnycombs are now gone. I wanted to breed Pretztails, and I thought it best to get rid of them all before they were eaten. Having sold them all, I then sold my Buzzlegums and Mothdrops to make some space.
However, I don't have everything needed to breed Pretztails, so a change of plan was in order. I evolved some Sparrowmints into Candaries, then bred about 15 of them. I also made some Squazzils resident and then bred them, and then some Jameleons came into my garden, ate a load of Flutterscotches and became resident. So I bred piles of them too. I even made some blue!
Most of the breeding was done by buying some Romance Sweets instead of meeting the mating requirements (as that was too long winded), and selling my surplus pinatas made me a tidy profit. I also managed to tame a Sour Shellybean today too, so things in my garden are progressing well.
So well, in fact, that it is now fully expanded to it's maximum size. ACE! Labels: 360, viva pinata
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
Good grief. This trial really does go on forever! Having cross-examined Gumshoe for quite some time, hours seemed to go by with questioning Wendy Oldbag. There haven't really been any twists so far, and I was quite pleased with some of my deductions - especially those to do with the next witness after Oldbag. It's all getting quite interesting now too... Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
No new animals today, and no sick or dying ones either. How disappointing. It was K.K. Slider day, however, so I went off to see him.
Having watched a short documentary on t't'tinternet, I decided to request he play "K.K. Song", and he did. It's the "secret" tune hidden in many Nintendo games. He gave me the bootleg of it too, as usual.
Not a lot else was going on this evening, although I did give Nibbles the clothes that Kabuki hated the other day. She's obviously less picky. Labels: animal crossing, ds
Viva Pinata (360)
#Viva Pinata! Filled with fun! (Filled with fun!) says the theme tune. And it's jammed in my head like a pokey thing jammed into a thing that pokey things get jammed into. Gah!
So I managed to breed ten billion Bunnycombs today, and even fed one a pumpkin and found it made it turn yellow! Yellow Bunnycombs are BEST.
I also hired quite a bit of help - someone to water things and someone to harvest things. The problem with the harvestling is she takes and sells everything I grow, meaning I have to be quick if I want to feed fruit to my pinatas instead.
My garden currently consists of lots of Bunnycombs, some Buzzlegums, a couple of Tafflies, two Mothdrops, and quite a few Flutterscotches of assorted colours. It seems you can feed them different coloured flowers to change them from White Flutterscotches to blue, red, green and yellow.
And I dug a pond too - and have a couple of Lickatoads resident there. ACES. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Cars (Demo) (360)
Ahaha. I have no idea why I even downloaded this, let alone played it. I knew it was going to be pants.
In fact, it wasn't awful, it was just a pretty simple racing game. Nothing special. Labels: 360
Rainbox Six: Vegas (Demo) (360)
Yeah, I know I said I wasn't going to play this again, but it's a different demo. This one is multiplayer only, and makes the whole game seem about a billion times better.
The mode I played was some kind of Attack and Defend thing. My team had to defend a briefcase from being stolen by the other team. We played about 6 rounds, winning roughly half each. It was just really good fun, and has made me wonder about changing my mind on buying this game... Labels: 360
Viva Pinata (360)
I've decided to keep my pinata species count down to just three: Whirlms, Bunnycombs and Mothdrops. None of them seem especially vicious towards any of the others (although there were a few fights today, and even some between two Bunnycombs), and the garden was much easier to manage as a result. I still had to watch out for Pretztails on the prowl for my Bunnycombs, but since they usually appear at night, and I now have a Bunnycomb house, that wasn't much of a problem. Fudgehogs appeared occassionally to eat Whirlms, but I either managed to see them off, or just let them eat them, become residents, and then sell them for more than the Whirlm was worth, anyway.
Much of my play was taken up with breeding Bunnycombs. I had seven at one point, and decided to sell some as there was becoming too much in-fighting and only five can fit in the house. You get a fair amount of money for each, though, and so I've started planting fruit with the cash. My first three blackberry bushes grew today. I should be able to "harvest" them soon.
I then started to concentrate on my Mothdrops. They're both ready to romance, but I can't seem to get them both out of their house (a giant lightbulb!) at the same time in order to do it.
Also today, I sent cboy77 a Mousemallow. I hope he likes it. Labels: 360, viva pinata
Superman Returns (Demo) (360)
Oh my. This has to be one of the worst games I've played in a long time. The graphics are awful. Like, PS1 quality for the most part - especially close up to walls and things. Buildings are out of proportion with the characters, as one "floor" of a tall building appears to be just half as tall as Superman.
So I did a couple of the required tasks, fighting with the stupid flying controls as much as the baddies, and then got bored so decided to rampage. And here's the thing: you can't kill innocent bystanders. You can punch them, burn them, freeze them and even blow them into walls, but they don't die. You can pick them up, fly really high, but can't drop them. You can, however, park them on top of a tall building then blow them off it, but they either vanish in mid-air, or land without a scratch. Rubbish.
Yes, I know that isn't the point of the game. That matters not. Labels: 360
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
Purrl has become another Cheese Departee. She upped and left today (or perhaps yesterday) with no warning. I hope she gets hit by a bus, the ungrateful cow. Uh, cat.
Kabuki was demanding clothes this evening, but wouldn't accept any of those that I bought from Mable and Sable. They just weren't stylish enough, apparently. That's gratitude for you. Several of my animals wanted to pop in to see my house too, so I told them it wasn't a museum and they couldn't just come round whenever they fancied it. Then I beat them with a golf club.
Some of this story isn't true.
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
Finally, I'm into the trial on Case 4. It took ages talking to people to get the evidence needed to move on, and it all got a bit odd when Edgeworth returned. Phoenix seems to hate him, but I can't recall why from the end of the first game - especially since Edgeworth essentially handed the final case from that over to Phoenix. Perhaps my memory isn't all it once was...
Much of this trial looks like it'll rotate around some stuff that happened to the lovely Adrian Andrews, the defendant's manager, a couple of years ago. And yes, she is lovely, as you can see from the picture...
Anyway. I've just heard Gumshoe's testimony, and am now about to start on the cross-examination. Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Viva Pinata (360)
More savage deaths of poor, cute little pinatas. How cruel to children you are, Rare. All of my Whirlms are dead. One of my Sparrowmints is dead. All my moths and flies were ill from being beaten up. Horrible.
Due to the huge amount of fighting between species, and being unable to separate them with fencing (my two new Bunnycombs nibbled through the fence keeping them apart from my Bunnycomb-eating Pretztail, and got eaten), I decided to cull some breeds. Well, sell them. So now I'm left with some more Bunnycombs, some Whirlms, and a couple of Fudgehogs. I'll breed them all and make millions! Mhuhuhuhahahahaha!!!!111!
Oh yes - and I've had my spade upgraded several times so I can whack Sours when they invade. BEST.
Defender (360)
Now this is much better than that Contra nonsense of last week. I was never that good at Defender "back in the day", so was quite alarmed to see that after just two goes, not only was I top of my friends list leaderboard, but I was about 300th in the entire world.
Of course, this is mainly due to there not being many people who have played it yet. After all, I did only manage to get as far as Wave 3 and have a score of 14,800 (just shy of the 15,000 required for an achievement, sadly), which is quite rubbish.
But! Defender! ACE.
Viva Pinata (360)
It's an explosion of cute, right in your eyes!
Despite the fact that Rare haven't made a decent game in about 10 years, I went ahead and bought Viva Pinata anyway. Mainly for my wife, but also because it's a bit Animal Crossing-y and Harvest Moon-y and I liked both of them. And it's great. And cute.
I put about two hours into it so far. I started off with a ruined, untidy garden, and some woman called Leafos gave me a spade. I set about clearing the place up, and some Whirlms moved in. They made baby Whirlms, and attracted some Sparrowmints. Who ate them.
This wasn't really so graphic, but was a taste of things to come...
I then had sightings of all sorts of other Pinata wildlife - a Doenut, some Tafflies, a Mousemallow, and assorted moth and butterfly things. I grew some seeds, harvested some carrots, and then a Bunnycomb moved in. He was very cute. He was great.
Until a wandering Pretztail (much like a fox) came into my garden and savagely killed and ate my cute little Bunnycomb. I cried for hours.
Elite Beat Agents (DS): COMPLETED! AGAIN!
I have indeed completed it again. This time, however, on "Crusin'" mode (otherwise known as "Normal" to Ouendan veterans). "Lets Dance" gave me a few problems, and I had to do the finale ("Jumpin' Jack Flash") about 5 times, but I finally did it and moved on up to the next difficulty level. ACE.
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
I think this is the first time in about a month I've actually gone to see Crazy Redd. And there was no point in doing so, as there was nothing in his tent worth looking at. So why I bought the widescreen TV he had for sale, I don't know.
Much of my time today was spent weeding. Again. Surely it isn't right that there are easily 30 or more weeds every single day? And they're just the ones I can see - god only knows how many are hidden behind trees and stuff.
And Mallary is still ill. Dead soon.
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
Blimey. It's taking a while to get anywhere with this one. I've spent quite a while talking to the accused, examining the crime scene, talking with some witnesses, and all sorts, and I've still not even started the trial yet.
And three people have psyche-locks on them. Two of them have FOUR locks. This case is going to take forever, isn't it? And why is Adrian Andrews a woman? Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
After this weekend's dual diversions of Elite Beat Agents and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, it was back to the serious matter of acquitting people of murder.
I've made a start on Case 4, the last one in the game. So far, I've been at a fancy awards ceremony, someone has died, Maya has been kidnapped, and lots of people from the previous game have reappeared. I haven't even started investigating the murder yet, and I've been playing for about half an hour. I suspect this case is going to go on a bit longer than the others... Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
It would appear that Cyrano has vanished already. He isn't in his house, and having spent a good 20 minutes hunting for him, I can only conclude he's gone. Stupid animal.
Mallary is still ill. She may die soon. I haven't given her any medicine at all. There's a reason for that.
Elite Beat Agents (DS)
Onward through the next hardest mode then, and I didn't have many problems until reaching the Canned Heat mission, which was really difficult. I finally managed to get through it, but I got the "not perfect" ending - the first time I've got one of them. I then unlocked Believe by Cher, and completed that, and then worked through a few more missions. I'm now stuck again. Bah.
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (DS): COMPLETED!
Cripes. I got two new games yesterday, and I've completed them both already!
So I whipped through the rest of the levels on this, which took a few hours. I've not done every challenge for every level (you only need to do 6/9 challenges, and 2/3 medals on each to progress), but I've beaten the other team, seen the end sequence, and watched the credits.
I then tried to play online, but nobody was around, and then I found Jam Mode, which is just like Classic Mode on the other Tony Hawk games! You get all the usual goals, scores to beat and stuff, but it's all done in a downhill run. ACE! Or not, if it brings back memories of the awful Downhill Jam level on previous games... we'll see.
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Demo) (360)
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.
And that's about all I have to say on the matter.
Rainbow Six: Vegas (Demo) (360)
I haven't liked any of the other Rainbow Six games, didn't really like Ghost Recon Island Thunder, am not a fan of any other "soldier" games, and so, quite expectedly, I didn't really like this. I mean, it looks nice and all, but I just thought "why am I playing this?", and then stopped doing so.
Contra (Demo) (360)
Urgh. This game is nasty. Really nasty. I never liked Contra (or rather, Probotector as it was bizarrely called over here in the UK) on the NES, and Super Contra (Super Probotector) on the SNES left me colder than cold too, so I wasn't really expecting much.
Which is just as well, as it's crap. I'm just glad I didn't buy it, as I normally buy the XBLA games without trying them, and it's only because of the new feature of automatically downloading trial versions that I didn't. Phew, eh?
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (DS)
Hurrah for Tony Hawk! I started out this year with a flurry of Hawk activity, completing Tony Hawk games at an alarming rate. Then I ran out. But look! There's a new one! Sort of!
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam isn't a proper, "traditional", Tony Hawk game. I was a bit worried about it, in fact, as it seemed to be an entire game based around the concept of the single "Downhill Jam" level from some of the other games. My least favourite level of all time. Luckily, then, that it's actually good. Very good, in fact.
Rather than have large, free-roaming levels where you do assorted goals and stuff, the game is much more like an urbanised Amped or something. Each level is a downhill race, but there are other goals to do which are more like normal Hawk games. You still have most of the tricks from the other games, so the controls are the same. However, reverts are missing, which was confusing at first, but since tricks don't have to instantly follow each other (you get a couple of seconds grace), they're not really needed.
So far, I've done the first "level", set in San Francisco, and have moved on to Edinburgh.
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
K.K. Slider night, and he played K.K. Fusion. I really should count up how many tracks I have now, so I know how far off the the 52 total I am. I'm expecting to be up around 45-ish, I think.
Overall, this evening was pretty musical in Cheese, as it was also La-Di-Day. Many of my animals wanted to sing me new town tunes, but most of them were crap. I chose Sally's as the new one, mainly because I thought she might like me a bit more and give me her picture, but it didn't happen. Another animal moved in today too - Cyrano the anteater. He's not said much though as he's unpacking.
Mallary is still ill. She probably has bird flu.
Elite Beat Agents (DS): COMPLETED!
It's Ouendan! Only new! And in English! In fact, it's actually more like a sequel, as it improves on the original in some areas (you can skip cutscenes for a start), and has a different plot and entirely new scenarios.
As you can see from the title of this post, I've completed it already, even though it only arrived this morning. However, I have only done it on the easiest setting, and only had to retry one level once (the second part of the final mission, in fact). It's ACE. The tracks are ace, the storylines are ace, the fact the agents now actually do the actions of the song (YMCA for example - genius) is ace, and everything is now understandable and a bit more polished. Game of the Year?

Rubbish! Octavian has moved out already. I'd barely had a chance to speak to him about anything and already he's gone. I suspect one of my other animals likes to eat squid or something.
Aside from him going, I did my usual load of weeding, and bought a few things I didn't already own. None of my animals wanted me to run errands for them again, and so there wasn't really much to do this evening. Oh well - only a month to go...

Case 3 completed! Quite a difficult bit of cross-examining later, as well as some sideways thinking, and the real culprit was found.
There was (as I expected, but not what I expected, if you see what I mean) a huge twist near the end, but it was all great anyway. And now, on to Case 4! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
This is getting quite dull now. I'm pretty bored with collecting stuff, can't really be bothered with turnips any more, I rarely get asked to run errands, don't fancy fishing, and the weeds multiply exponentially so my heart isn't really in picking them every single day.
Had a conversation with Nook about his fashion sense, and seemed to lose my new resident Nibbles already - I can't find her anywhere.

Aha! I figured out what it is I needed to know (and find) in order to get past Moe and Acro's "lies". I've uncovered stuff about the "accident" six months ago that put Acro in a wheelchair, and now I've made a start on cross-examining Acro in the court. Phoenix seems to know that Acro did it, but I'm not sure... Labels: ds, phoenix wright

So that bit of trial went well, finally, and I'm back in the circus questioning people again. I've found that two of the performers (Moe and Acro) both have secrets I need to unlock with the stone thing that Maya gave me, but I don't think I have the evidence I need in order to do so.
It seems there's something about an accident six months ago too, but I haven't figured out what... Labels: ds, phoenix wright

I have a new animal! And it's another squirrel! I must have had all of them by now, surely? She's sort of blue, and is called Nibbles.
Obviously, being new, she didn't have a lot to say as she was moving in, but none of my other animals had a lot to say either. Mallary is still at death's door, of course, and I did get some clothes from Mable and Sable, none of which I'd seen before.
And weeds. Gah!

Hmm. This seems to be the only game I've actually played all day. Which is a bit unusual for a lazy Sunday.
I'm getting stuck into (but not actually "stuck") Case 3 now, and it's all set in a circus. There are some great characters again here - even better than most of them in the previous two cases. Max is FABULOUS, and Moe the Clown is hilarious (but mainly for all the wrong reasons). For example, see here.
I've done all the investigation work for the case, and have started working through the first day's court stuff. I'm up against Franziska and her whip again. Nice. Labels: ds, phoenix wright

K.K. Slider night, and he played me "To The Edge" or something with a similar sounding name. Not a lot else was up in Cheese, aside from the usual mess of weeds and a few errands to run. Mallary is ill, still, but I didn't get her any medicine because I'm evil like that.
Mmm, duck soup.

Case 2 Completed! It turned out the thing I though had happened, had actually happened. Hurrah!
That case was really rather long. I don't recall any of the first four cases in the first game being that long (although the fifth case was huge), so I wonder if Case 3 will be even longer? I haven't started it yet. Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (360)
Hurrah! I actually managed to win some matches online! Quite a few of them too, all in Ranked Mode. Enough, in fact, to get myself an achievement.
It would be nice, however, if people would play as someone other than Scorpion or Cyrax, and wouldn't continually use teleporting and harpooning moves on me. That just isn't cricket.
