deKay's Gaming Diary
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Played a fair bit of Story Mode this evening, and worked my way past the first two levels. It seems a lot easier than Classic Mode so far.
Also tried to bump up my rankings a bit, but in the end only managed to lengthen my Lip Trick time (to 31 seconds). Did boost my stats a bit though too, but Air and Ollie are woefully low. I can't do the "8 grab tricks in one combo" type requirements, as I still fail the land-revert-manual thingie most of the time. I'm getting better, but I'm still not quite there.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
High score rackage! Almost!
I've been trying to bump up my scores and stats to improve my standings in my Skate Crew's scoretables. I've only been trying on Hollywood, but I'm now 5th for the Run Score, and 1st for the longest grind of 33 seconds. That even puts me 52nd in the Global Grind Scores for that level too, which is pretty good going.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Just knocking up my "Sk8 Crew" stats a bit today on this. I'm about 4th or 5th for overall score on Hollywood. Hurrah!
Sadly, I'm in the bottom three for almost every other stat going. Boo! You can see my crew here, and my personal stats here. If you so wish.
Mario Kart DS
Although I'd previously finished the game, I managed to unlock the rest of the Retro Cups in Mirror Mode today, and then win those too. Got an A rank and a Star rank for the Leaf and Lightning Cups respectively.
I can now choose any kart for any character. Not really sure what advantage that gives me, but anyway.
Sonic Advance 3
Finally managed to complete Chaos Angel Zone, which wasn't actually as hard as it has first appeared. The boss at the end was a bit of a pain, though, and I lost tens of lives to him before getting past.
And now it's onto Altar Emerald. The strange Metal Sonic/Ristar hybrid thingie that keeps cropping up as a "mid boss", as well as part of the main bosses, was here, and then a giant Eggman-controlled Eggman robot was after that. But I died. Looks like it might be end of game boss time... Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
And completed Broadway...
The secret tape was a real pain to get to though. Thankfully, on the next level (Downtown), I picked the the tape entirely by accident, so I won't need to struggle to find it there!
Also picked up the COMBO letters and completed a few scores on Downtown.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Finished off all the challenges in Hollywood on Classic Mode, and had a bit of a skate around there before moving on to the next level - Broadway.
I really can't get the land-revert-manual controls working reliably, which made the 300,000 point Sick Score on Broadway a bit difficult. I'm sure it's harder to time than on the console versions of Tony Hawk's. Anyway, I managed to do all the scores, and the other challenges bar the secret tape (which I can't see anywhere).
Decided to play online then, and had a go at Trick Attack against some random bloke. I thought I was doing well too, as with only 20 seconds left, he was left on about 25,000 points and I was up to 400,000. Then, suddenly he jumped to 1,500,000-ish, so had clearly been racking up a huge combo. So I lost. Bah.
Mario Kart DS
Hmm. I just did the second Retro Cup on Mirror Mode, and came first overall. For some reason, it didn't unlock the next Cup as I'd expected it to. Which means I've run out of Cups to play.
Why hasn't it opened up any more? I know I have a B rank on the Cup I did today, but surely that shouldn't make any difference?
Mario Kart DS: KOMPLETED!
All of the 150cc cups have now been won! By me! Which means the game is completed!
Well, technically, there is still Mirror Mode to go (and the missions), but the game proper is all done now. Almost all of my ranks are A and above, with just one or two Bs. I think there may be a D in there somewhere too, but I think I might have redone it.
I've also done all the DS cups in Mirror Mode, as well as the first of the Retro Cups. After doing the DS Cups, I unlocked R.O.B., so used him, er, it as my character for the next few races. I should have stuck with Luigi, really.
After that, I had a go against some rllmuk peoples - Wavey and alisdair. They had this bloody annoying knack of killing me over and over and over and over right on the last corner of the track, while I was winning. Bah. Came joint 2nd (or "joint last" if you must).
Mario Kart DS
I've now completed all of the "new" 150cc cups! Some of the tracks are pretty tricky to win, especially if the front two drivers happen to be heavy characters like Donkey Kong, Wario or Bowser. They can spin you out just by ramming you, which isn't nice at all.
I've also done the first Retro Cup on 150cc too. Only three left to go!
Mario Kart DS
The Rev, lovely as he is, is no match for my ph33rz0me Kart mad sk1llz. 4-0 to me, oh crying one.
Mario Kart DS
First off, I completed all of the rest of 100cc Mode, getting A-or-above ranks on each and every cup. Then, I played the first Cup on 150cc. It didn't actually seem to be a great deal harder, in fact, but I did drop to third at the end of the final race so got "just" 36 points instead of 40.
Then, it was ONLINE TIME. First race was versus three random people. One quit after losing the first race, and I came first overall out of the rest of us. After that, I played Kramer (from of off assorted places), and beat him easily. Then, Chibi and Vitani joined us for another game. I was winning after two races, but the three of them ganged up on me on the last corner of the last lap of the third race, making be come last. EVIL. Luckily, I came second in the final race so got a respectible 28 points overall, putting me second. Poor Kramer dragged in last with just 7, and Vitani won with 31.
Mario Kart DS
Another few 100cc Cups completed now. Only two Retro Cups left to do before I move up to 150cc. I also played a couple of games online against random people, coming 1/2 and 2/4 in them.
Mario Kart DS
Oh poor Andy "Monkey" Herbert. I just beat him 3-1.
Bizarrely, I actually crossed the line before him on the one I "lost", but it counted as a win for him. He haev teh ch34tz, clearly.
Mario Kart DS
Completed the first three Cups on 100cc this evening. I managed to come third on one race though, which is a pain, although I managed a double-star rank for the third Cup. Hurrah!
Mario Kart DS
50cc Mode Complet0red!
I've been though all the Cups now, with maximum points on them all, and unlocked Daisy as a new character. I then went and did some more of the Missions, and completed all of levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. There are even bosses in that mode!
After that, I played some Me vs 7 CPU Battle Mode. For some reason, they all started with three balloons, but I only started with one. Which was a bit unfair. Played five rounds, and won three of them.
Finally, it was time to play deKay Vs Teh Choobinator: Round 2 - Teh Quakening. Poor Mr Gubbins. He lost all 8 races this time. In fact, he was very rarely even in the lead. Tch, eh?
Sonic Rush
Erm. Yes. I did say I wasn't going to play this much, but for some reason it fell in my hands again and it was rude not to press it and touch it and stuff, wasn't it?
Completed the second Zone with Sonic, and played through the third (but died). Also played through Blaze's first Zone. But died there too. I don't like the way she controls - too floaty and she seems to have a jetpack, and she's sloooooooooooow (compared to Sonic at least). Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Sonic Rush
Just a quick go. I didn't really want to get into it until I'd finished Sonic Advance 3 but, well, it arrived today. And was shiny.
And it's great! The music is totally not Sonic, and there's a Tony Hawk's type trick system to go with the usual rail grinding, and it's fast. Very fast.
But great!
Only played through the first zone and beat the first boss though. And the boss was great too - 3D without 3D-ness. Sort of. ACEGREAT! Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Mario Kart DS
Played through all of the "new" Cups on 50cc mode today, getting a Star Rank (and maximum points) for all of them. I've unlocked a new character as a result, it seems. And hurrah - there's a Star Road track!
After that, I played the lovely Choobs over t'tinternet. Sadly, he was rubbish, and I thrashed the living pants out of him. Well, he won one of the eight races, but only by a whisker. And I was playing it with my feet.
No doubt he'll claim he'd never played it before. Or he's blind. Or his DS was in another room and he had to control it by shouting commands to one of his family members who was holding it. Upside down.
He's such a liar.
Anyway. People who wish to challenge me can add this Friend Code to their list: 189 038 365 126
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
ONLINETASTIC!
Two online DS games in one day. Excelsior! Not that I actually played this online, I just used it to upload scores and stuff, which is pretty worthwhile. I've joined the rllmuk "sk8 crew". Fo' sho'. Currently, I'm "hangin'" somewhere in the middle of the crew's rankings. Go me.
Played "Classic Mode" mainly, which is as you'd expect - classic Tony Hawk: goals, scores and gaps. And it is excellent. The graphics are all cel shaded, but they look great, and the controls are proper Tony Hawk's style. Completed all of the tricks in the first area bar the "Find the Secret Tape" one. Because I can't find it. Obviously.
Mario Kart DS
DS ONLINEAZ0R!!
Ahem. First port of call when I turned it on was the Nintendo WFC section. It took a few seconds to configure, and then I was playing online against a load of random people.
And it was ACEBEST. Had two full matches (4 tracks each), and came 2nd overall on the first one, and then 1st overall on the second. Not bad, considering I hadn't even played single player mode at that point so knew very few of the tracks.
Then I had a go on single player, and completed the first Cup on 50cc mode. Got a Star Rank for it too. It was very easy, but then, I expected it to be.
Finally, I had a go at the first few missions on Mission Mode. They were all of the "collect X of Y in Z seconds!" type, but pretty good anyway.
Forgotten Worlds: REMEMBERED!
I used to have this for the Spectrum. It was crap. I also have it for the Megadrive. It is crap on that as well.
Luckily, the arcade version isn't, mainly due to twin-stickness making it much easier to aim your shots. It's a bit of a cross between Parodius, Ai Cho Aniki, and Robotron, with some added Fantasy Zone shops. It was pretty good too, with bizarre bosses and the best Japlish cutscenes and ending ever. Probably.
Completed then. And that's today's hat-trick!
Son Son: COMPLETED!
Another game from Capcom Classics. I'd never even heard of it before today, and it's a strange genre hybrid - it's a horizontally scrolling shooter, but with platforms. Which are mostly pointless.
It reminded me a bit of that almost unknown Master System game Cloud Master, although that didn't have platforms. It was just a similar "feel", I suppose.
There are no levels as such, but the game does progress through 20 stages, one after the other, with no breaks. At the end, there is no boss. You just have to grab some item from a statue. And then you win - like I did!
Bizarre game. Probably won't play it again.
Bionic Commando: COMMANDED!
What a dire game. It really lacks a jump button, and a "jump to lower platform" ability too.
But, I persevered with it, despite it being less than one tenth as good as I recall it being from the arcades when I was younger, and made it to the end, destroyed the device there (I have no idea what it was) and then killed some bloke who looked a bit like Olaf from Advance Wars, who seemed to be the end of game boss. Even though he didn't shoot at me or anything. The End! Never to be played again...
Capcom Classics Collection
I was slightly disappointed with this collection, especially after the excellent Taito one I got a few weeks ago. For starters, Street Fighter II actually makes up THREE of the 22 games listed, and there's a load of vertically scrolling shooters (1942, 1943 and 1943 Kai - which itself is a remake of 1943 - are three of them), and even Ghouls 'n' Ghosts and Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, which are both essentially the same game.
There are several "real" classics, such as Final Fight and Commando, but nowhere near as many, nor as varied a selection, as the Taito compilation.
Anyway, I played through most of the titles for a few hours. As you'll see in my next three entries...
Sonic Advance 3
Buh! Chaos Angel (the 7th Zone) is a bit bloody hard, isn't it? It is full of my least favourite platform game "thing" ever - the fall-off-the-bottom-of-the-screen-and-die thing.
Either that or I'm just rubbish at it. Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Sonic Advance 3
More play on this today, as I'm certain Sonic Rush will be appearing on my doorstep tomorrow, so I should get it out of the way first. It really looks gorgeous on my Game Boy Micro, and as I said yesterday, it's much more fun than Sonic Advance 2 (which in itself didn't seem to be a bad game, until I played this).
Up to level 5.3 now, which is some kind of "digital world", and has many nods to other Sonic games - the gravity from Death Egg Zone in Sonic and Knuckles, bits from Metropolis Zone in Sonic 2, and all sorts. It's ACEBEST. Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Sonic Advance 3
This is so much better than Sonic Advance 2. The levels are prettier, faster, and the game is more Sonic-like. It reminds me very much of Sonic 3 on the Megadrive.
I'm enjoying it much more than Sonic Advance 2 as well, and I'm now up to World 3. The levels seem bigger too, and you can save after each Act rather than only after each Zone, making having to continue much less frustrating. Bosses are more standard Sonic bosses too - none of this constant scrolling, run-after-Eggman-and-hit-him rubbish.
And the music for Sunset Hill Zone is a remix of the original Green Hill Zone from the first Sonic game, which is a nice touch. Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Snakes
Snakes is a free game for N-gage owners. It's like Snake, only in 3D. A bit like Armagetron. It isn't all that great, but it passes the time. I've been playing it in one or two level spurts over the last few days and spent a while on it this evening. I'm up to about level 16 now. It gets progressively more complicated each level, with extra things to collect, avoid, or use. This level is "two sided" - so you can "drive" your snake on the surface of the level, or flip to the underside and "drive" around there instead. It's a bit of a crap feature really, as you can't see where things are that you need to pick up.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: CASE CLOSED!
After a somewhat marathon session on this today, some four hours or so, at least, I completed it!
There are no end of twists and turns and stuff, and some double bluffing and lies upon lies, but I saw through them and won. I did, however, mess up at a critical point near the end and gave away some evidence at the wrong time, which ended the game. Bah. But I won the next time! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
This chapter seem to go on for ever! I've just been through the courtroom section of the second day, but it took aaaaaaaages. I'm sure I spent about two hours on it. I think the length of the game is mainly due to the huge amount of text that requires reading, but I messed up the cross-examination a few times so ended up having to redo it. Tch.
Anyway. Only half of the final chapter left! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Finished the first day in court, and cross-examined two witnesses. It took ages! I've also spent quite a while on the "end of day detective work" that seems to go on every day in this game, and am about to begin the second day of court "drama". Or something.
Oh! And I can find fingerprints now! Hurrah! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Blimey. This final case is a bit long! I've spent hours on it this evening, and not only is it more complicated than the previous ones, but you get new "investigating powers" (like examining objects in 3D and stuff). And it's really long. I'm expecting it to be three days of trial (like most of the other cases), but so far I've spent several hours doing detective work and haven't really started in the courts yet.
And this Angel Starr woman is a bit suspicious... Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
CASE WIN!
And Game Over. Only not! As Jimmy Cricket once said, "There's more!". A whole case more too.
Anyway. Case 4 was a long one. And, like the others, twisted and turned all over the place. Surprises around every corner. And other clichés. Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Well into Case 4 now, and have completed my first day in court against the evil von Karma prosecution lawyer. He's a bit scary.
There's not a lot I can say about the case really, without spoiling stuff again.
I can say that it involves a murder on a boat, on a lake. And a Loch Ness Monster type side-story. And a giant inflatable Samurai.
Just picked up some more clues from the crime scene too. Another day in court must be around the corner, I think... Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Gunstar Super Heroes
Played through a bit more as Red. I've done Moons 1, 3 and 4 now, without any real problems, but Seven Force on Moon 2 is giving me grief. I don't remember it being all that difficult as Blue, but I can't defeat him.
Mind you, my save point does only have 40 health when I begin. I might go back a level and try to get a higher amount.
Sonic Advance 2: SONIC BOOMED!
With Sonic Rush out next week, and this still not completed and Sonic Advance 3 still unplayed, I thought I'd best get my finger out and do something about it. So I completed it!
Turns out the boss I was stuck on at the end of Sky Doobrie Zone wasn't as hard as I'd previously thought. I just needed to be more careful. The next two zones were pretty easy too, as were the bosses.
And then came the "XX" level. Which, to my horror, turned out to be a SuckySuck(TM) bit! DEAR GOD WHY? Every single boss. One after another. Luckily, you only had to hit each one three times or so, rather than the six or eight previously, but still. End of game LAZINESS, Sonic Team. You ought to be ashamed. Oh, but then you did Sonic Heroes too, didn't you? Rubbish.
Anyway. Killed them, and the (new) boss after them. And it was Game Over. Robotnik helpfully reminded me (as I expected he would) that I didn't have all the Chaos Emeralds, so I went back and collected the few I had left, and then completed the game again. Only to be told, again, that I didn't have all the Chaos Emeralds. Except I clearly do. All of them.
Can't be bothered figuring out why it isn't recognising them all, so that'll conclude the game for me. The End. Labels: sonic the hedgehog
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Spent most of today with the third case. It is much longer than either of the first two, and quite a bit more complicated. There's this great character you meet - a director called Sal Manella, who talks in 1337 speak all the time. He's hilarious.
Again, I won't spoilt it for you if you haven't played it, but rest assured there are more twists than a twisted up twisty thing twisting around. Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Finished the second trial! Hurrah!
But, erm, I can't really tell you a lot without spoiling it. Tch.
It was great though. Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Like Atari MagiMix Sexy Razor Happy Girls 10 Game below, this game also arrived today. And, it too was on offer from Play Asia. I missed out when it first came out as I was worried it might be a little bit dull. I mean, it's a game about lawyers, right? How wrong I was.
I played through the first trial this evening - I was defending a friend who was framed for murder. There were plenty of plot twists, which made for a great story, and it was fun finding all the contradictions in the testamonies and evidence. And even finding new uses for evidence too...
I can't say too much as it'd be a huge spoiler, but it is great.
After winning that case, I played through the first chapter of the second case. Which, again, I can't say too much about. Phoenix has been dropped in at the deep end, though, and so far doesn't seem to have a hope in hell of winning. Cliffhanger! Labels: ds, phoenix wright
Atarimix Happy 10 Games
Yes, it really is called that.
This DS compilation of 10 old Atari arcade games came out a while ago, but was on offer at Play Asia for under a tenner (when I ordered, at least). I knew it was pretty crap, especially the bonus "remix" versions of the games, redone with "hip" graffiti-style graphics and stuff, but my jaw hit the floor when I realised just how awful they were.
Played each and every one of the games, in both "guises". Naturally, many of the original versions were fine. Some, such as Missile Command, really benefited from having a touch screen to control them, and most were at least reasonable (except Pong, which was all vertical and rubbish). Almost all the remix versions were terrible. Some of the games look like they've been drawn by a three year old with a mixture of crayon and vomit. Some simply can't by played as the control schemes are shot to pieces (I can't use the touch screen with my right hand, AND the buttons with my right hand, Mr. Atari - I only have ONE right hand!). Almost all actually look worse than the originals. What a pile of poo.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Two more levels done! Managed to get past Giant Rat vs Businessman after about 15 tries, and it was not easy. As you'd expect. The first half of Police vs UFOs was really easy. However, the second half was not - and I swear the pattern of circles changed from attempt to attempt.
And it kept making them appear under my hand! Gah!!
Ready Steady Go! can just eff RIGHT off. I saw a video of someone completing it the other day, and it made my eyes bleed. I had one go today. It just isn't possible. FACT.
Metroid Prime Pinball
Played to get a high score on the Pirate Frigate level. Managed a pretty feeble 1,400,000-ish. Rubbish.
Also played to get the fastest time on the Artifact Temple Thingie Table. And got an equally rubbish 2:22. Pah.
Gunstar Super Heroes
I heard, somewhere, that there was a bit in the game were you could fight the characters from Golden Axe, and fight a giant Sega Megadrive.
I looked. And looked.
It was a lie.
The New Zealand Story
Played this on Taito Legends this evening, with the intention of completing it. It took me about an hour to work my way through all the levels up until level 4-4 - the Viking ship. Unlike all of the other levels, if you die and need to continue, you don't respawn near where you pegged it. Instead, you begin again at the start of the level. Rubbish.
And, since it is a pretty difficult level, filled with spikes in enclosed spaces and millions of assorted baddies in the open spaces (and some of the enclosed ones too), I didn't manage to make it to the end after several attempts. Plus, it was getting late anyway. For another day!
Damn these Olde Wurlde games wot don't have save functions...
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Another couple of levels out of the way - Ugly Cleopatra (which was bloody hard), and Over the Distance (which was bloody easy - A rank on my first go).
Now there are only three songs left on Insane mode. I had a go at Businessman vs Giant Rat, but failed miserably. I suspect these final three will be somewhat difficult. Ho hum.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Another day, another level. I'm certainly not working through them on Insane quite as quickly as I did on the easier modes...
This time, it was Purple Afro Election Man, and it was pretty easy up until the beginning of the final section, which just threw me over and over. I think i fluked it on my last attempt.
It matters not, however, as it is teh defeat0red!
Metroid Prime Pinball
High score attemptage on the Tallon Overworld table. I racked up 9,800,000, then lost my final ball. However, my Bounty Bonus (possibly involving a coconut-based chocolate snack) bumped it up to over 10,000,000 and I got an extra ball! Phew, eh?
Sadly, I then lost that one soon afterwards, but I did end up with about 11,800,000 in the end.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Three more levels complete - Teacher, Ramen Man and Diarrhea Violinist. Ramen Man was actually really easy, and only took about three attempts. the violinist one though, guh. I spent about 45 minutes on that one alone.
Anyway, 9 down, 6 to go!
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Two more levels done, namely Dodgeball and Potter. Had a go on Teacher, but, well, it's a bit bloody hard, isn't it?
I'm taking about 10 or more attempts to clear each level so far. I dread to think how difficult Ready Steady Go! is going to be...
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Yes, again. I've decided to try and finish off Insane mode. I'd already done two of the songs, and have just managed to finish two more - Horse and Horny Secretary. The latter was really difficult, even though I knew the patterns and stuff. I just really struggled with it.
Anyway, 4 down, 11 to go. Or something...
Gunstar Super Heroes: SUPER COMPLETED!
Good grief! I only got this yesterday, and already I've blitzed through it (as Blue). Erm, hurrah! Probably!
It was very good, but also alarmingly short. I've already started playing through as Red as some sort of compensation.
Gunstar Super Heroes
So I decided to start again, and this time play through as Blue. Not that it made a huge amount of difference, as it was still pretty hard. Did manage to get all the way up to the final boss, however. Not really sure how that happened.
At least, I think he's the final boss. He looks like him. And he's hard. Very hard. And I had to re-kill all of the previous bosses again, one after another, before getting to him. But! It wasn't a SuckySuck(TM) bit, since all the bosses, although the same people as earlier in the game, attacked completely differently. So that was OK then!
It was still a Treasure Trademark Boss-a-thon though, which left me with just 6 health at the end boss. And that's where my saved game is too, so every time I load the saved game, I have 6 health, Golden Silver breathes vaguely in my direction, and I die. Pff.
I've played enough video games now to bet that there's someone else to kill after him too...
Metroid Prime Pinball: PRIMED!
Cripes. I didn't expect that.
I was merrily playing Multi Mission, and then I realised I had a score of about 3,000,000. Then I realised I had just collected the 12th and final artifact. Then, I was in the Artifact Temple place, and was defeating Meta Ridley, and then I was in the Impact Crater "fighting" Metroid Prime.
Just like in, erm, Metroid Prime. And it was ACE.
Then I killed it, and thus I winnared. Credits and everything.
Of course, I could continue playing (and I did), and managed to rack up just over 9,000,000 points in total. Somewhat better than my previous Multi Mission score, eh?
Gunstar Super Heroes
Since this GBA game arrived today, it seemed a bit rude not to play it.
Started off as Red, and breezed through the Earth and Moon 1 stages. However, then it got a bit hard. Very a bit hard, in fact.
I always found the Megadrive original difficult (and, in fact, found most of Treasure's previous games a bit hard - just look at my previous posts about Astro Boy), but I suspect I'll stick with this as it is a great game.
Metroid Prime Pinball
Well. I beat the 1,000,000 mark on Multi Mission mode. Managed to get 6 artifacts too (out of 12), but then died. Pah.
Metroid Prime Pinball
I have actually played this game a bit already this week, but today was my first proper go at it. Although the game is SUPARACEBESTEST and all that, word yo, it isn't that easy. You get two tables to begin with, with more unlockable if you play through "Multi Mission" mode (which is basically a pinballised version of the Metroid Prime story).
I have Pirate Frigate and Tallon Overworld available currently. The former is harder to get points on than the latter. I have mainly being getting scores of about 600,000 and 1,000,000 respectively, with about 750,000 on Multi Mission. Not very high at all.
But it is great. And it has a rumble pack!
Lost in Blue: FOUND!
I ARE TEH MASTAR!!
After waiting for guards to move, I made it back into the hideout. And there, where there was previously nothing, I found a flare gun! Rushed home to Skye, had a quick sleep, and in the morning we got into her life raft and pushed off from shore.
A passing boat's attention was attracted by the firing of the flare gun, and we were rescued! THE END!
Finally! I was on Day 51 when I completed it, by the way. That's probably more than twice the minimum, though.
Although I have now unlocked [spoiler] mode. Not sure I want to bother with that though, as the game irritated me too much in the later stages. Besides, I have 23984234 other DS games vying for my thumbs.
Lost in Blue
I damn well will complete this sodding game.
Spent a while stocking up on supplies again, and then headed back out to the hideout. Actually made it inside this time, and after finding out some stuff in there, I went back to the cave and spoke to Skye.
I think we're ready to escape the island. I need some more stuff, from the hideout, but I don't know what or where. We (well, I - she doesn't seem to follow) can escape on the lifeboat Skye washed up in now (the waves have "become smaller" or something), but if we do we die at sea as a boat we find can't see or hear us. Great.
Went back to the hideout (yet again) and am currently quicksaved there as I can't get in again. Pah.
Lost in Blue
Hurrah! Crate puzzles solved! There were nine of them overall. However, after I'd done them all, I realised Skye was almost dead. The stupid cow had forgotten to drink, meaning her water-o-meter was at 0%. This in turn caused her not to eat (you can't eat when thirsty) so her food-o-meter dropped to 0% too. Then, she couldn't sleep as a result of the above, so her stamina was dropping quickly. And because of that, her HP were on the decrease too.
After the final puzzle, I had two directions to take - left and right. I quicksaved, and chose left, which led me back to the start of the temple, and I came home as quick as I could. Skye was on 9% HP when I was almost home. "She's dying" said Keith, over and over again. Then, just as I got to the cave, she only went and had a drink and ate! Gah! I needn't have bothered!
Anyway, ate, rested, ate again, and slept then saved.
Decided then to reload my quicksave, and head right instead of left. In the interests of not spoiling the game for others, I can only say that there is another section of game left to do. And it is my second least favourite game mechanic - stealth. RUBBISH, KONAMI, JUST RUBBISHNESS++. Failed it.
